Search and Rescue Party Needed for Gormley’s Agent

Fine Gael Cllr. Naoise Ó Muirí has today (Thursday) called on the Minister of
Environment, Heritage and Local Government, John Gormley TD to send out a
search-and-rescue party to locate a ministerial appointee who was charged with
carrying out an independent report in relation to the Poolbeg waste-to-energy
facility.
On the 5th of March this year Minister Gormley announced the appointment of Mr.
John Hennessey SC with a brief of preparing an independent report relating to
the risks and consequences to City Council as a result of involvement in a ppp
for Poolbeg.

The Minister expected his Agent to report back to him within 6 weeks i.e. mid
April.

Today is the 1st of July and not a whit in relation to this work has entered the
public domain.  The report is already 12 weeks late with no sign of an outcome
and with the clock still ticking on expensive Senior Counsel time, the bills
are mounting up.

I am calling on the Minister to answer the following questions:

What is the exact status of his Agent’s work – is he just lagging behind or has
his brief been extended?
When will this report be available for public review?
What has been the financial cost of this exercise for tax-payers and what will
the costs be at completion?
