Update on Belmayne Allotments

Dear Councillor,

In November/December 2013, the North Central Area Office advertised 112 Allotments and 1 Community Garden on Dublin City Council lands in Belmayne, Dublin 13.

We received 210 applications by close of business on Friday 24th January.  On offer to applicants are 68 plots of 64sqm and 44 plots of 30sqm.  To lease the plots for an 11 month period will cost €120 for 64sqm and €60 for 30sqm.

A lottery draw was held on Tuesday 28th January at 10am.  The applicants have been informed by letter whether they were successful or are on a waiting list.

In allocating the Allotments it was decided to allocate the plots to residents from the following local areas s  1) Local Area Plan residents, 2) living in the Fringe of the allotments and 3) residents in North Central Area on a ratio of 2:1:1.

Due to poor weather conditions the construction work on the site has been delayed.  We would expect that the allotment holders will be on site by mid March.
