Dollymount Flood Defence – loss of view for Motorists = 460m stretch

Further to your request, please find attached PDF indicating the section where the driver eye height is below the completed wall level – 460m.

We also ran long sections for the northbound and southbound which indicate that the 460m is conservative (there is a gap of approximately 100metres along the middle portion of the area shown for which the wall is lower than the driver eye height).

Comments to note:

  • This only indicates the eye level versus completed wall height – it does not indicate where the view of the lagoon may be restricted.
  • Travelling at 50kph means this 460m section will be passed in 33 seconds.
  • The overall wall length from Ch. 90 – Ch. 1670 is 1,580m. Therefore, only 30% of the completed sea wall will be level or above driver eye height.
