Dear Councillor,
I wish to refer to my email yesterday and set out hereunder a further update on the water supply situation.
Demand at 557Mld was exactly the same as supply last night. While the situation has stabilised we have not made any progress on improving storage. As I pointed put yesterday the thaw over the next few days will cause further leaks and this adds to the challenge. We need to get storage up by about 150Mld coming into January. Given the situation we are going to continue with the restrictions up to and including Sunday night. The public have been forewarned of this through the media yesterday.
Due to way the restrictions have been planned, calls and complaints are still quite low.
Also, please see hereunder a press release which outlines additional work taking place on clearing roads and footpaths from ice today and over the weekend. This is being sent out at lunchtime along with a press release updating the public on the water supply situation.
Yours Sincerely,
John Tierney
City Manager
