Great to see that Dublin City Council has finally gone to tender for construction of the Clontarf Flood protection scheme and the new watermain contained within:

It involves the laying of 5km of large diameter water mains (ranging in size from 400mm to 600mm diameter) and for the construction of approximately 3km of flood mounding and walls (approximately 2150m of earth mound and approximately 900m of in-situ concrete walls) along Clontarf Promenade between Alfie Byrne Road and the Bull Wall.
A crucial project for the Northside (both in terms of water supply and flood defences) that Fine Gael has consistently lobbied for – great to see it finally moving into gear. Hoping to see contractors on site in early 2011.
