Dublin City Council are organising a public initiative to harvest the berries of the Sea Buckthorn Shrubs on Bull Island tomorrow. The shrub is an invasive plant which damages the dunes if allowed to spread. Birds eating the berries at this time of year is the main way by which the seed is dispersed.
The berries are rich in Vitamin C , 15 times more concentrated than oranges. This Saturday at 11 am , local Chef Liam Moloughney and the Staff at Bull Island and Dublin City Council’s Parks , Biodiversity Unit and will facilitate the public to harvest berries which they can use as a free food.
