Latest on Clontarf flood alert – Monday 1.32am

Dublin City Council is pleased to announce that the threat of flooding from the high tide and weather conditions at midnight on 7th November has passed without major incident. There were some local incidences of water breaching the walls at Clontarf at the Wooden Bridge and at Marine Road, Sandymount.

The road closures in Sandymount at the junction of Strand Road and the seven roads will remain in place until after the next high tide due at midday on 8th November, it is hoped to re-open these roads at 2.00 pm on 8th November (subject to the appropriate weather conditions). The seven roads which are closed at their junction with Strand Road are as follows:

S. John’s Road East

Gilford Road

Gilford Avenue

Lea Road

New Grove Avenue

Seafort Avenue

Marine Drive (junction with Beach Road)

Dublin City Council’s Local Emergency Co-ordination Centre was stood down at 12.45 am on 8th November.   Staff from the Drainage Division of the Council will monitor the situation overnight.
