There has been a fair bit of negative commentary swirling about in recent days about a perceived failure to engage locally with NAMA RE: provision of units for homelessness/social housing in Dublin and elsewhere.

I am acutely aware of the efforts and long hours being put in behind the scenes on this issue so in defence of those public servants in Dublin City Council/DRHE who have been at the coal-front on this issue for a number of years now here are 3 specific examples relating to just my own electoral area (Dublin Bay North):

• Calderwood Court (13 units)– DCC confirmed demand with NAMA through the Housing Agency in Q. 2. 2013, the final legal paperwork was not signed until July 2015.
• Belmayne  (75 units) – DCC confirmed demand with NAMA through the Housing Agency in Q. 1 2014 , got the units in four phases in December 2014, March 2015, May 2015 and August 2015.
• Clare Village (48 units) – DCC confirmed demand with NAMA through the Housing Agency in Q. 1. 2012, the final legal paperwork was not signed until July 2014.
