Dublin City Council, on behalf of the four Dublin Local Authorities, is advising consumers in the entire Dublin region that production at Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Planthas begun to improve, although it is still well below normal production levels.  Coupled with this, storage levels at our treated water reservoirs remain at an unsustainably low level.

Accordingly, the current water restrictions will remain in place each evening, from tonight until at least Thursday 7th November, from 8.00pm each evening, to 7.00am the following morning.

Customers should be aware that unlike some other utilities like ESB, water distribution systems cannot be operated and managed to the point where the exact locations and precise times at which the effects of pressure alterations (both incressase and decreases ) will be experienced, however we do make every effort to ensure that the times and area affected are limited.

Dublin City Council’s Engineering and Central Laboratory staff have been working 24 hours a day, since the problem emerged, to arrest the falling production levels at Ballymore Eustace and to bring the Plant back up to full production.

According to Michael Phillips, Dublin City Engineer, “since we identified the problem, we deployed all available resources, and continue to do so, 24 hours a day, to remedy the problem of loss in production at the Plant. Our Engineers and Central Laboratory Technicians have made significant progress in turning around the difficult situation at the Treatment Works, so that the production of water has begun to improve. The key to the successful resumption of full treatment capacity is our systematic and structured approach in which treated water quantities are increased in a very controlled manner. However, levels are still 20% below that required to meet daily demand for the Dublin region. We also need to replenish levels at our treated water reservoirs which still remain at a critically low level.”
