Search Party Required for Gormley Advisor – Ó Muirí

Fine Gael Cllr. Naoise Ó Muirí has today (Wednesday) called on the Minister of Environment, Heritage and Local Government, John Gormley TD to send out a search- and -rescue party to urgently locate the ministerial appointee who was selected to carry out an independent report in relation to the Poolbeg waste-to-energy plant.

According to Department of Environment correspondence received by Dublin City Council in late February, Mr. John Hennessy, Senior Counsel was due to report back to the Minister by the end of March 2010.

This report is now over three months past its due date, for this reason, I am calling on the Minister to answer as a matter of urgency the following questions:

  • What is the exact status on Mr. Hennessey’s report? Has his original brief now been extended based on these longer timelines?
  • When will this report be available for public review?
  • What has this exercise cost tax-payers to-date and what will the total cost be at completion date?
