The following is a breakdown by category

2010: Total €340,819 of which €214,255 is comprised of Public Notices, Road Closures, Public Consultations and other Public information.

2011: Total €244,059 – €217,089 Public Notices, Road Closures….. as above

2012: Total €277,677 –€ 254,263 Public Notices, Road Closures….. as above

2013: Total TD €260,415 –€256,026 Public Notices, Road Closures….. as above

Public notices are made up almost exclusively of statutory notices which the council is obliged to place. These include Part VIII planning applications, notices relating to Public Consultations and Road Closures.

Road Closures make up by far the most significant spend in this category. The majority of these notices are requested by third parties- such as utility companies- who meet the costs of placing the ad.

Advertisements in the media which were not Notices

Litter Awareness

2010 (€19,749), 2011 (€26,372), 2012 (€23,404) and 2013 TD (€4,391)

The figures for Waste Management /Anti Litter relate to an annual Litter Awareness Campaign. Approximately 63% of this money was provided by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government in each of the years for which figures were requested.

Failte Ireland also provided €10,000 each year except 2013. This means that approximately 73% of these costs were recouped in total.
