High Tides forecast for the Dublin Area – 01/01/14 to 07/01/14

(from Dublin City Council – 31/12/13)

A series of very high tides are due to occur over the next couple of days, in particular on Wednesday 1st January at 11am and Friday 3rd January at 12.33pm.  As a precaution the City Council will be closing flood gates on the Dodder and Tolka Rivers and the Liffey Boardwalk will also be closed until Friday 3rd January.  Flood defences are being installed at strategic locations in Clontarf (near Alfie Byrne Road) and Sandymount for the same duration. Carparks in Sandymount and Clontarf will be closed to the public during this period. Dublin City Council apologises to the public for any inconvenience caused by these works. Property owners at risk of tidal flooding particularly in the Clontarf and Sandymount areas are advised to protect their properties. Suitable guidance on flood protection measures can be found on the website http://www.flooding.ie.
