Dublin’s Griffith Avenue overlooked in Dublin’s Favorite Street Competition- Ó Muirí

Leafy, tree-lined Griffith Avenue, situated in Dublin 9 has NOT been selected the winner of Dublin’s Favorite Street competition, announced earlier today (Thursday) by the Dublin Street Guide and Dublin’s Lord Mayor. Dublin North Central Fine Gael Cllr. Naoise Ó Muirí has expressed surprise at the result.

The competition, organised to promote the launch of the 2010-2011 Dublin Street Guide encouraged visitors to their Facebook Page and Twitter Account to summit pictures and comments regarding their preferred street in Dublin. The most entrees determined the overall winner, which was Grafton Street.

Shockingly Griffith Avenue, one of Dublin’s longest meandering avenues which links Glasnevin via Marino to the Malahide Road did not get selected!

“I can only assume that a bunch of Southsiders with too much spare time on their hands spent a substantial amount of their free time on Facebook and Twitter, eventually swinging the result to Grafton Street!

“As a Public Representative of Dublin North Central, I would like to award Griffith Avenue a special award of Favorite Northside Street”!
